Tongoa Post Office:
On 19th May, 1976 a new Post Office was opened on the island of TONGOA. To commemorate
this event covers were made bearing the 1.15 gold franc stamp of the "Telephone Centenary"
issue which were cancelled with the Tongoa date stamp on the opening day. They were in sets of
two covers, one English and one French, and were sold for the face value of the stamps, 2.30 gold francs.

A letter from the center of political turbulence during the last years of
Condominium. Must have been some utmost important information carried by this letter:
it is the only so far recorded receipt acknowledgement letter from Santo. The
AR handstamp is not mentionned in PCH. The 1.75F mixed postage pays for all
the options the letter has - we cannot confirm the amount. The registration label
is PCH type 38, the last one used in New Hebrides' Santo. (Ruecker coll.)
